The Seremban Half Marathon 2009

Yesterday was the Seremban Half Marathon 2009; it could be said as a very good experience and will serve me as a good memory. On that actually day, I planned to run with my elder brother to actually give me the push, but I think I’ll eventually lose out to him anyway because there’s a reason why he is physically stronger than me.

I reached the MPS field at about 6:15 together with my sister and brother, we registered and in return we get some safety pins to pin the numbers on our shirt, our numbers sound nice, my sister’s was K2496 (doesn’t really sound nice), mine was L2339 which kind of rhyme and my eldest bro is G288 (you know that the number 8 is good, the more the merrier). And heck, my sister already got all 8 pins and so does my brother, they don’t even have to take extras from the counter. Does everyone like to keep them? Not me at least. We did warm up, a few stretching and a guy in red offered some heating gel and I was the only one taking it among the 3 of us, isn’t it suppose to be good to rub it on your legs?

Since we’re all in different category, we all started at different time, and ended at different time. My journey was kind of bored since most of the time, I’m running solo. Like I said, I planned to run with my eldest brother but my plan was foiled, so I just ran, with only self-motivation. It an 11 km route, or 9, I don’t know which, some even say 10. The certificate wrote 11, the pewter wrote 9 which are kind of confusing. I ran alone, but at times, I ran past a few friends and I gave them a light pat on the back, and sometimes, they run past me, and at times, I ran together with a few. I first ran with Chin Kee Wen, he constantly jogged and sprinted when he reached the last roundabout in the leg of the race; I eventually lose out to him because well, he keeps on jogging. Next was Tan Jian Hong, well, he’s the one I can keep up to the most. I jogged alongside with him for about 30 minutes, and eventually catch up with Kee Wen but was again left out because I ran out of breath, It’s like all of the sudden, I suck in air but I’m unable to breathe. So I stopped abruptly, and manage to keep on walking and sprinted when I’m about 300 meters away from the finishing line.

I’ve always wanted that pewter. I’ve got that intention since form 2, and hence made a few efforts to practice once in awhile, but they were never constant, but still, I manage to get the 288th placing, 12 more and I’m out. I clocked in at 1 hour 5 minute and 15 second, which is quite impressive to me. The pewter is precious, and I kept hold on to it, until I got back home and safely put it into my certificate holder. Like usual, they provide free drinks and food, but heck, whose in the mood to actually enjoy the food after such a tiring run? I drank few cups of 100+ and Milo, and a few more cereal and decided that we’re full.

Went home around 10 and had a nap until 1 and played DotA(Defense of the Ancient) until 6 ++, a nice day indeed. Like they say, a seed you sow is a corn you reap.
