We all have school assembly, some are long, some are short, some are troublesome, and some are just mere pain in the ass. Most of you who is in my school – SMK Bukit Mewah – would know what our daily assembly would look like.
For prefects, we had to get ready by 7 at our respective classes to turn off the lights and get the students to go to the assembly ground. There was one thing that I find it really funny, lights can be so easily turned on and off, why do they need people to turn it off for them anyway? Can’t someone automatically help themselves and cut prefects some slack. We have a reading session at around 7:15 in the morning, where the Nilam song will be played, last year, the atmosphere would turn instantly silent when the song reaches it end, but nowadays, things change, students are more prone to talking to their friend than following the rules. Once again, it’s the prefect’s job to babysit these people to ask them to sit down. Some would refuse to sit to the front because they’re so scared of the discipline teacher. I was like if you’re so fucking afraid to get caught, why not just follow the fucking school rules?
After the 20 minute reading session, speeches would begin; enough with Monday assembly that would last for an eternity, nowadays, even other days with unofficial assembly would last 30 minute or so. Why? Because those discipline teacher had nothing else to do but crap in front of all the students, constantly reminding them to again follow the school rules. They seem to never get bored repeating the same thing over weeks or months. Let me tell you something, even if they don’t get bored of themselves, we do! Not only they’re wasting our time listening to things that we all are suppose to know, but just didn’t bother to do, but they’re also obstructing the lessons that are suppose to begin earlier.
Sometimes, when you want something so badly, life just doesn’t give you, and when you want it to happen, it just simply refuses to happen. Our morning assembly today (Tuesday) lasted until 8:10. Out of all the days to have a long assembly, it falls on a Tuesday and that is a day where my class is going to have our physical education class, which is a class which we enjoy most due to going out to the court or field to have fun. So I was becoming restless as ever, because not only are those announcement unimportant to me - because I’ve heard them so many times I could recite them backwards – but they’re also becoming an annoyance since we only have PE classes every week.
In the end, we didn’t have PE classes, we had only like 20 minute to spare after changing our clothes, and when we’re just about to head to the court to play some ball, we’re called back to our class by the teacher. So there goes, one of my favorite classes, into the drain.
p/s: just letting go of my frustrations here, don’t get offended anyhow.

tell you the school should have a main switch in every block... just cut the main switch. and everyone has to get out... or i hope...
hahah, nice idea, but i bet 100 they wouldn't even be bothered to implement such stuffs. Besides, students get freaked out even if we ourself switch off the lights... guess what the blackout can do.
