18th of April

Written: 19th of April 2009

18th of April 2009 is certainly a day to remember. There are 3 things I’m aware of on this date. First off its Ja She’s 18th birthday, 2nd thing is I have NGO marching competition, and the last but not least, Prefect Gala 2009.

The day started with my alarm ringing at 4 in the morning. I turned it off and went back to sleep. Upon realizing that my brother woke up and went out the room, I decided to get up and move on too. My sister woke up at 4 too, and we all had breakfast together, wash up and soon finding ourselves departed to school for the once in a year, NGO marching competition. I was high, excited, and definitely eager to win this thing and move on to the state level and have another go with Palung 7. We lingered around the school, played with some marching steps, and even saluting the moon (it was a full moon)! There is also one part where 3 of our members went to the cyber cafĂ© for some games. We called them through phone to get their ass back here. We lined 2 lines along the” gajah menyusur” to “welcome” our members back like they’re the VVIP but when they come up the long path, we clapped hands at first, and then we “raped” them. It was all funny and we had lots of laughter together with our commander – Jun Wei. We had 2 rehearsal and we went to the MPV lab to get changed. We went for our uniform check and soon after, we were ready by the side of the hall, getting ready for the war ahead. Everything is still clear in my mind now, we did our best (I think) and we unfortunately lost to SDAR by 12 mere points. What a pity, but we’ll definitely try again next year won’t we?

The long day proceeded with Gala rehearsal at around 1, which I clearly don’t have the mood to do anything else for the whole frigging day Ying Ying gave me a chance to go home and I took it and off I go. I took a bath and had a few games to just clear my mind off of these sad memories. I don’t feel like sleeping at all, even though I’m feeling a little tired. After a few games which lasted approximately 1 hour or so, I changed to my prefect uniform and asked my brother to fetch me to school. The school was like usual, no added decorations, people are in haste to get things done, some still practicing and some discussing and all sorts of activity. I saw some of the seniors and I’m not close to most of them at all, so talking was definitely out, so I decided to follow my sister around since I don’t really have the mood to do anything else.

At round 7 in the evening, the first program of the night started the opening ceremony - An action packed sketch with a little violence. I find that a lot of people like violence (try happy tree friends) because this ceremony got everyone cheering. They’re all like fighting and killing and lots of fighting (repeated on purpose). Like I said, people just love these types of show. The theme was Destined Dragons, which wasn’t that bad… DD sounds nice. The gala proceeded with dancing, singing, and all those crap which are nice and I think this gala is better compared to last year because last year is such disaster for me, and probably that’s the reason why I don’t want to join gala this year.

At the end of the show, we have follow dance, well, not some romantic duet just some casual dance which was led by Jamie. So, like usual, this is the part where I just sit at a corner and just watch, it’s in my family blood, my brother and sister didn’t dance too. I was just caught off-guard when the teachers go upstage to dance. It isn’t a crime of course, just a little surprised. The show ended at around 11 and my brother lingered to socialize with his friends, my sister waiting half patiently, and I just looking around the assembly ground where I was marching on the past 12 hours. Looking around, doing the marching steps again, remembering the used-to-be happy moments in the early morning and finding the moon to salute to, but I noticed that there’s no moon tonight, hidden behind the skies…

P/s: I’m all fine now and I’m capable of moving on after the defeat in NGO marching competition, thanks for concern.

P/s2: Ja She’s at National Service, so we didn’t get to celebrate whatsoever, but I did wish her over the phone. Happy 18th birthday!!

P/s3: My sister got something to say too, she doesn’t have a blog and well, she asked me to include her message.
